J + D's 501 Union wedding was a nice change of pace for us in August. After sit down dinner upon sit down dinner it was awesome to be able to do a large, cocktail style wedding. Especially because Great Performances was catering, so we knew guests would be raving about the food! When Jessie first came to me, she mentioned that she worked in events- so she was used to thinking about events for her company not for herself. When we got down to the nitty-gritty, Jessie + Darius just wanted to make sure that everyone had a great time. And they did.
Massive vinyl decals, colorful (and cheeky) signage, Jenga sets, nail art, and temporary tattoos were the name of the game at this wedding. The bar was my favorite part of this wedding. Liza from Peartree Flowers created two of the most epic, tropical arrangements I've ever seen. I wanted to live in those things. Paired with spray-painted gold dinosaurs and a temporary tattoo corner, the bar was the go-to spot for guests throughout the night. They also had PHHHOTO, a gif photobooth where guests could record themselves dancing, making faces, etc. We created a custom origami backdrop that consisted of over 400 pieces. Nicole + Gina had numb fingers for weeks after putting together that creation!
